Obituary

Rice. Zelmer S., 88, of Valrico, passed away on September 29, 2007. Originally from Kentucky, he moved to the Valrico area in 1980 from Miami. He retired from the City of Miami, where he worked as a crane operator. Zelmer was known as "The Miller Road Tomato Stand Man" because of his tomato stand that he operated using the honor system and a cigar box. Zelmer never met a stranger; he loved to talk with everyone. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beatrice; daughters: Dolores, Joyce, Carole (Mac), Darlene (Mike), Debbie (Gary); brother: Charlie Rice; brothers-in-law: William, Carl, Joseph, Daniel, Terry and Jerry Duke; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. There will be a Funeral Service on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. The family will be accepting friends beginning at 10:00 am that morning. There will be a burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, immediately following the service. Words of Comfort may be expressed at serenitymeadows.com
