William Robson Wimble, 84, of Valrico passed away on April 24, 2016 surrounded by his family. Raised in Lisbon, NY and later moving to the Brandon area, he had several successful careers as a dairy farmer, and as a principal in several companies including bulk-truck transportation and finance. He was also a storied NASCAR driver who in addition to winning many track championships, won the NASCAR point championships in 1960 and 1961. He received the Carnegie Bronze Metal for assisting in the rescue of a fellow driver from a burning car at Daytona and has since been inducted into many racing halls of fame. He co-authored a book about his life in all of these endeavors. He was a caring and compassionate man who leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy; 3 sons: Alanson, Daniel and wife Darian, and Lawrence; 1 granddaughter Ashley; 3 extended granddaughters Brittany, Ellie, and Jessica; and an innumerable number of friends. He will be sorely missed by everyone whose life he touched. There will be a memorial service on Monday, May 2 at Serenity Meadows, 6919 Providence Rd. in Riverview. Friends and Family will be received from 10-11 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to LifePath Hospice.
