Raised in Lisbon, NY and later moving to the Brandon area, he had several successful careers as a dairy farmer, and as a principal in several companies including bulk-truck transportation and finance. He was also a storied NASCAR driver who in addition to winning many track championships, won the NASCAR point championships in 1960 and 1961. He received the Carnegie Bronze Metal for assisting in the rescue of a fellow driver from a burning car at Daytona and has since been inducted into many racing halls of fame. He was a caring and compassionate man who leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy; 3 sons: Alanson, Daniel and wife Darian, and Lawrence; 1 granddaughter Ashley; 3 extended granddaughters Brittany, Ellie, and Jessica; and an innumerable number of friends.
