Obituary

Sbuttoni, Sr., William E. "Bill", 72, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, Father's Day. Bill was born in Medford, MA, the youngest of 6 children. He proudly served in the Marine Corps before coming home and falling in love with a nurse then marrying her. Bill served his family his whole life with a devoted heart. He loved to cook, bake, garden, wood carve, tinker, build, fix things & would happily sing or whistle while doing everything. He always wanted to do things for others, even when it was he who needed the most help. His family was so blessed to have had such a fun, optimistic, thoughtful, loving man as a husband & father. What a lover of life! Despite all his trials & suffering over the past decades, they thought he would outlive them out of pure grit & determination. He was a hero & a champion. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Betty; his daughter, Amy (Patrick) Stanley; his son William (Liz) E. Sbuttoni, Jr. and his daughter Sarah (Stan) Martin; and his seven precious grandchildren: Will, Zack, Olivia, Emily, Macy, Ethan & baby Joey. He also is survived by his sister, Rosemarie (Gene) Gentuso of Medford, MA. Bill was preceded in death by his parents & his four brothers. He loved his family more than life itself, as they were what gave him his thirst for life & the determination to keep fighting. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Serenity Meadows in Riverview. A funeral mass will be Friday, June 22, at 9:30, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Seffner, to be followed by a procession to Serenity Meadows for the rendering of Military Funeral Honors. He was so patriotic and proud to be a veteran. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or Tampa Shriners Hospital for Children.
