IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Alexander
Livingston
June 27, 1942 – July 13, 2024
William Alexander Livingston died peacefully, listening to The Kingston Trio music, on Saturday, July 13th, 2024 in Plant City, Florida at the age of 82.
Bill, as he was affectionately known, is survived by his wife Delores Livingston of Clearwater, Florida, daughters Heidi and Philippa, sisters Terri, Sarah, Barbara and Gail, stepbrothers Dillon and Luis. Bill is preceded in death by three younger brothers, Michael, Richard and Alexander.
William was born on June 27th, 1942 in Colon City, Panama R.P. , the firstborn child of Arthur and Mary Livingston. He graduated from Cristobal High School but not before his education was interrupted by a motorcycle accident in 1959 which left him comatose for six weeks. That traumatic brain injury changed the entire course of his life. Bill did recover and joined the US Army in 1963. This was his childhood dream. A year later he began experiencing grand mal seizures, a side effect of the TBI, and he was honorably discharged. He then went to Plumbing School in Oklahoma and became a certified hydraulic engineer. When Bill moved to Florida he enjoyed work at The Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, Florida. Epilepsy followed him all his life and dictated his trajectory.
Bill met his wife at Windsor House in Clearwater, an assisted living home where they both resided. They were married in 1990 and shortly thereafter had two baby girls, both given up for adoption due to the parents' limitations. However, a beautiful reunion took place in 2017 when both girls were grown. He was most proud of his daughters.
What most people remember about Bill was his quick wit. How are you today, Mr. Livingston? "Six feet up, not six feet down!" He could say that because the man was 6'2". Despite the brain damage, Bill had a serious sense of history and his favorite subject was WWII. He was a "walking encyclopedia."
A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, July 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery on Wednesday July 31st at 1:00 p.m. with Military Honors. The family is grateful for Windsor House, Good Shepherd ALF in Brandon, Benrac Home Alf in Brandon and especially Solaris Healthcare of Plant City where he spent the last four years of his life. The care he received by loving staff at all these fine places gave him extra years on this earth.
