At the age of 14 "Billy" came to know Jesus as his Savior through the faithful witness of his Sunday School teacher Mr. Proctor at Sulfur Springs Baptist Church. This began a life of service to his Lord. As a youth at Sulfur Springs then as a young man at Balm Baptist Church and for the last 62 years at First Baptist Church of Riverview. 61 of those years as a Deacon and 55 years as Treasurer retiring in 2011 as Treasurer Emeritus. He served wherever needed, from digging a ditch to teaching God's word. For Bill, his life's priorities were: his love for God, his family and his church.
Bill lived his entire life in Hillsborough County, Florida, but he traveled the world. Starting as a child, he traveled the west with his family. When he joined the Merchant Marines he began to see the rest of the world. Virginia helped him continue his travels with his daughters as they toured the U.S.A. When more time was available he and Virginia began their conquest of the world and by their 50th anniversary they had been to every continent and rung in the new century by taking a trip to Antarctica. And on June 22, 2018 Bill took his last and best trip home to his Savior Jesus Christ and His Heavenly Father.
