Herndon, William L., 83, of Riverview, FL., went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2008. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Laverne; his son and daughter Ed Herndon and Beverly Clark along with their families; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was a veteran of W.W.II. Served in the (CBI) China, Burma, Indian "Theatre of War" with an Engineering battalion attached to the U.S. Army Air Force. At the end of the war he was serving as an "Air Cargo Kicker" from the Army's C-47 Twin engine aircraft in the upper Assam & Burma area, one of the most hazardous air routes of W.W.II. Later in life, he retired from the Fla. D.O.T. with 34 years in New Highway Construction. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served many years as a Deacon in the Church, Song Director, Sunday School Teacher and Spiritual Mentor to everyone he came into contact with. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday afternoon for a viewing at Serenity Meadows located at, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, FL (813)677-9494. The funeral service will take place at Clair Mel First Assembly of God, located at 2415 78th Street, Clair Mel City, FL. Monday, Feb. 18th at 11 a.m. with a precession to Serenity Meadows immediately following.
