William Aldon George, Sr. of Plant City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2024.   He was 97-1/2 years old, born June 7, 1926 in Sydney, Florida on a strawberry farm.   He is survived by his children, Linda George Smith (Cleveland, Georgia), Judy George Burkett (Brandon, Florida)  and Don George (Riverview, Florida), five grandchildren, many great grandchildren and his Grace Manor of Hunter's Creek Care Family.  He was the youngest of seven siblings and had a twin brother.  Aldon served in WWII as an Aviation Flight Engineer with the US Navy 1944-1947.  He was married for 77 years to Dorothy Hinson (deceased 2021).  He established WA George Upholstery in 1960 and became known as one of the best upholstery shops in the Tampa Bay area.  He served as a Boy Scout Master for over 20 years in the Riverview area (1960-70's) receiving statewide awards for his dedication, He was a Deacon at Providence Baptist Church (Riverview) and a greeter with his wife at Bell Shoals Baptist Church (Brandon) for over 40 years.   This world has lost an icon that impacted lives in ways we don't even know, all because of his desire to treat everyone with respect and kindness.  He always left you smiling with his gentle manner and sense of humor.  Throughout his life journey, he always set an example of how to live a Christian life.   He was loved beyond measure and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends/family and celebrate his life at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home in Riverview on Friday, February 2nd, from 10 a.m. to Noon.  Military Honors and Eulogy will be presented at 11:30 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity or to Tunnels To Towers T2T.org.
