Fontanez, William John, 53, of Riverview, passed away on June 25, 2011. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. William was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Tampa. He enjoyed playing dominoes and watching sports, especially football and baseball and was devoted to his favorite team the Yankees. William was also a mentor to many young men and women; he opened his home and provided a warm family environment for many people. He is preceded in death by his father, Juan Fontanez; and brother-in-law, Israel Martinez. William is survived by his loving family, wife of 28 years, Cynthia Fontanez; sons, William J and Christopher R Fontanez; mother, Altagracia Valerio Fontanez; brother, Thomas Irizarry; and sisters, Lorraine Cortez-Vazquez and Ana Maria Garcia. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. The funeral mass at Blessed Sacrament will be on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, the time is pending. He will be laid to rest on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 2:30 pm at Sarasota National Cemetery. William was a great dad, husband, son and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
