Thompson, Whitman F. (Whit), of Brandon, Florida passed away peacefully at home on July 10, 2014. He was born on December 25, 1934 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to W.B. and Pauline Thompson. He was a member of the Alberta Baptist Church. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Civil Engineering. He moved to Florida in 1961 and worked with the Department of Transportation. After working with the D.O.T., Whit was a Hillsborough Country Drainage Engineer. He retired from Post, Buckley, Schuh & Jernigan. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by a daughter Celeste. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Becky, two children, Heather DeLoach Thompson and Spencer Thompson, a daughter in law, Karly Thompson, three grandchildren, Taylor Thompson, Peyton Thompson, and Emory DeLoach and a niece, Juliet Theresa Rubio. The family will hold a Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 19,. 2014 at 4:00pm at The Barn at Winthrop, 11349 Bloomingdale Avenue, Brandon, Florida.
