WANCIO, Walter, age 82, affectionately known as "Wonderful Walt", passed away peacefully at 7pm on March 11, 2014, after a brave struggle against Parkinson's disease. He was lovingly surrounded by his immediate family, Marge, his wife for 57 years and all of his children, Debbie, Lisa, Charlie and Kent. His son, Charlie and wife, Teresa blessed him with two grandchildren, Austin and Addison. Born on December 23, 1931 in Shamokin, PA, he was predeceased by his parents and seven of his siblings. His sister, Louise Daley, of Monroe, N.C. is the only surviving sibling. Walt spent 28 years in the Air Force, retiring with honors in 1979. His final career was with the Federal Aviation Administration, retiring in 1994. An avid golfer, Walt was a member of Buckhorn Springs Country Club since 1990. He enjoyed Square Dancing for 20 years, bowling, darts, billiards, and playing any and every card game. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 17, 2014, at Serenity Meadows, 6919 Providence Rd, Riverview, 33578, followed by a Reception at Buckhorn Springs Golf & Country Club, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm, 2721 South Miller Rd, Valrico 33596. In lieu of flowers, those choosing may make donations to their favorite charity, or to LifePath Hospice.
