Walter Thomas Carsten, 81, of Riverview, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. he had moved to this area from Long Island, New York 18 years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy in WW II and was a retired foreman in the telephone industry. Mr. Carsten was a Mason and a member of Communication Workers of America Pioneers. He was a stamp collector and a life long N.Y. Yankees Fan. He is survived by his son; Brad (Rhonda) Carsten of St. Louis, MO., daughter; Janet (Bob) Shaffer of Riverview, FL. and his four grandchildren; Ian Thomas Carsten, Robin Carsten Shaffer, Lee Carsten Shaffer and Alexis Carsten Shaffer. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 29, 2009 (TODAY) from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home.
