DEES, Wallace "Jack" 61, (Colonel, U.S. Army, RET) passed away peacefully Monday, October 17, 2016, at his home in Valrico surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years Trish, his son Patrick, Lieutenant USN, of San Antonio, Texas, his daughter Jessica of Valrico, his sisters Patricia (Bill) Vill of Cumming, GA and Dorothy (Charles) Jones of Lake City, FL, and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jack was born in Live Oak, Florida to Wallace and Nettie Dees. He graduated from Florida State University in 1973 and commissioned into the U.S. Army, serving around the world, including two tours in Amman, Jordan as a Foreign Area Officer. He retired as a Colonel in 2003 and continued to serve as a Dept. of Defense civilian at US Central Command until his passing. Jack's favorite pastimes were traveling with his family, cycling and watching Florida State football.
A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 followed by public visitation from 2-4pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home in Riverview, FL. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Jack's name to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org. Internment at Arlington National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
