IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia "Gina"
Gersting
April 30, 1931 – March 24, 2025
Virginia "Gina" Gersting (Koontz) passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, in Brandon, Florida, at the age of 93. Born on April 30, 1931, in Flint, Michigan, and a graduate of Elk Rapids High School, Gina lived a long and meaningful life marked by resilience, creativity, and faith.
Throughout her life, Gina found joy and solace in quilting and singing. Her quilts were not only works of art but also expressions of love and care, stitched with intention and heart. She shared this passion with the community through her small business, Gina's Knits and Things, where she taught others and created lasting friendships.
As a proud Air Force wife, some of Gina's most cherished memories were the years spent overseas while stationed in Germany, building a life filled with adventure and service.
Faith was a cornerstone of Gina's life. She leaned on her spiritual beliefs during times of hardship and loss, drawing strength from her relationship with God and sharing that strength with others.
She was a bright light and a loyal friend to all who knew her.
Gina was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Clare Winifred (Bray) Koontz; her husband, William Gersting; her brother, Robert Francis Koontz; her children, William Robert Gersting, Mark Alan Gersting, and Janna Agger; and her grandson, Matthew John Gersting.
She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and all whose lives were touched by her warmth and grace.
A memorial service to honor Gina's life will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, 4:00 PM at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 3315 S Bryan Rd, Brandon, Florida 33511. The service will also celebrate the life of her son, Mark Gersting. All are welcome to join in remembering their lives and legacies.
May the memory of Gina bring comfort and peace to all who knew and loved her.
