Victoria Giselle Bodden, lovingly known to all as "YaYa," passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 4, 2026, at the beautiful age of 99. She was born on May 26 ,1926 in the Dominican Republic, where her story—and the legacy of generations to come—began.

Yaya was a proud first-generation immigrant who moved to New York in the 1960s in search of a better life for herself and her children. With very limited finances but an unshakable will, she brought her children to the United States one or two at a time—doing whatever it took, never giving up, and always putting family first. Later, she made her way to Florida, eventually settling in Miami, where her family continued to grow and thrive.

For the past 15+ years, Yaya lived in Riverview, Florida, surrounded by the people she loved most—her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. It was there, wrapped in love, laughter, and family, that she took her final breath. Yaya never saw the inside of a nursing home, and anyone who knew her knows that was no accident—she was strong, determined, and cared for fiercely by her family.

She was a devout Catholic with a deep love for La Virgen de la Altagracia, a faith that guided her life and gave her strength through every chapter.

Yaya is survived by seven children, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was the matriarch—the very first—and she never let anyone forget it (and she earned that title). She will always be remembered for her bold personality, her endless love, her sacrifices, and her sweet insistence on having her "cacaitos"—those little chocolate kisses she adored.

While saying goodbye is bittersweet, there is peace in knowing Yaya passed simply of old age, after a long life well lived and filled with love. Our family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who came in her final weeks to visit, share memories, and show her just how loved she was.
