Thomas M. Tennant, 84, a longtime resident of Valrico FL, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2022.

Tom was born in Brooklyn NY to Tom and Alice Tennant. He graduated from Cathedral Preparatory High School in Brooklyn. After high school, Tom joined the Army National Guard then transitioned to Active Duty where he served as a Field Artillery Fire Direction Control Specialist in Korea.

Tom earned his bachelor's degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and joined the New York Police Department in 1962, enjoying a long and successful career. He rose to the rank of lieutenant before retiring from NYPD Inspections in 1986. He next worked as a Data Systems Programmer and Analyst with the Defense Logistics Agency and later retired with U.S. Customs. Tom kept busy by volunteering with the Elks, the Men's Club and Food Pantry at Nativity Catholic Church, Cracker Country, and the Boy Scouts, and by reading, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.

Tom is survived by his devoted wife, Marian Tennant (née Blaize). He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Tennant (née Smith), with whom he shared his three beloved children: Elizabeth (Ken) Klein, Tom Tennant, and Terry (Jen) Tennant, and his six cherished grandchildren: Bridget, Kelly, Margaret, Annette, Kieran, and Declan. He will be deeply missed by his sisters and brothers: Dawn (Tino) Calabia, Gail Philips, John Tennant, and Patrick Tennant, as well as his nieces, nephews, and extended family across the country.

Cremation was private. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 10:00am at Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon FL. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Brandon Elks Lodge on Sunday, January 22 at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Harry Anna Investment Fund of the Florida Elks Brandon Lodge.
