Thomas Ewell Pride, Sr., age 81, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital, Seasons Hospice in Tampa, FL on January 3, 2022. Tom was born August 7, 1940 in Charleston, WV. Tom moved to Riverview, FL in 2018 with his wife Connie and son Jonathan from Decatur, TN where he lived his dream of being a farmer. Prior to becoming a farmer, Tom was in the banking industry having been an officer with First National Bank in Athens, TN, First Tennessee Bank, Hamilton Bank in Chattanooga, TN, Aetna Finance Company, and Beneficial Finance Company. He was an Eagle Scout and remained active with the Boy Scouts of America for many years, receiving the distinguished Silver Beaver award. He was a founding member of the Chattanooga Track Club, an early member of the Chattanooga Bicycle Club, and a member of the Civitan Club. He was a past board member for Educational Advocacy for Children with Handicaps (EACH); as well as Tri-County Center in Athens, TN; and Camp Lookout, Holston Conference, United Methodist Church. He was a long-time member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Decatur, TN. Tom loved the outdoors, being active, his horses, his community, his church, but most of all, his family.
Tom is survived by his wife of 63 years, Connie Ray Pride; daughter, Cheryl Renee Pride Cox and husband, Cecil H. Cox, Jr.; son, Thomas Ewell Pride, Jr., and wife Sabrina Watford Pride; son, William Abney Pride and wife, Cynthia Owens Pride; son, Jonathan Ray Pride; grandson, Petty Officer Third Class Nathaniel Dylan Pride (US Navy) and wife, Aubrey Carey Pride; granddaughters Catherine Darcey Pride, Claire Abney Pride, and Emily Case Pride, brother George William Pride, Jr., and wife Jonella Robertson Pride; several nieces and nephews, as well as dear extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Fawn Pride; and parents Lt. Col. George William Pride, Sr. (retired) and Ruth Gertrude Cummings Pride.
Services to be held Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 12:00 PM in the chapel at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, https://www.parkinson.org , or the Michael J. Fox Foundation, https://www.michaeljfox.org .
