Miller, Thomas, Jr., 79 of Brandon, born in New York, New York, October 5, 1928, passed peacefully after a long courageous battle with cancer, Friday, February 15, 2008, at home with his loving family by his side. He retired from the US Air Force after 26 years of service and also from the US Postal Service after 15 years of service. Living in Brandon for over 40 years, he volunteered with many youth organizations. His most memorable was assisting in the development and building of the South Brandon Little League Complex and coaching baseball.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Linda L. Miller; son Thomas Miller III, daughter Linn M. Schleif, deceased son John M. Miller, daughter-in-law Becky L. Miller, son-in-law Jon A. Schleif, and deceased daughter-in-law Debbie A. Miller. Also by eight grandchildren, Thomas Miller IV, Billy R. Miller, Richard L. Miller, Jessie R. Miller, Jennifer A. Schleif, Johnny M. Miller, Jr., Josh A. Schleif, and Jana L. Miller and four great -grandchildren, Dustin T. Miller, Amy N. Miller, Emily E. Miller, and Thomas Miller V.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews throughout the country of whom were extremely special to him. Only a few include, Kathy and Peter Smith, of Palm Harbor, and George and Linda Jean Waring of New Hampshire. Special thanks to Linda Jean for her loving care during the last month of his life. Her care and commitment allowed his wishes of passing at home with his family to be granted.
Mr. Miller will be Honored with a full Military Burial Service, which will be conducted at Noon, Wednesday, February, 20th. Family will receive friends the evening of Tuesday, February 19th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Both services will be held at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, 6919 Providence Road in Riverview, Florida.
Flowers will be accepted; however, should friends desire, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society in the name of Thomas Miller, Jr.
