Griffin, Thomas Michael, 57, of Valrico passed away on October 17, 2014. He was born on February 14, 1957 in Brooklyn NY to Walter and the late Jean Griffin. Along with his father, he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Robin Hopey Griffin; daughters, Caitlin (Stuart) Rigby and Colleen Griffin; and a sister, Barbara Griffin (Charles Freiburger). Tom will be greatly missed by his loving extended family, friends and co-workers. A dedicated officer in the U.S. Army for 24 years, he had overseas tours in Germany, Korea, and Egypt, in addition to his service in The Gulf War as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. After retirement from the Army, Tom launched a second career working for Northrop Grumman. In his free time Tom loved to fish Tampa Bay in his beloved Mako "Prop Blast II". An avid fisherman, scuba diver, and hunter, Tom loved all outdoor pursuits. A Visitation will be held on Friday October 24, 2014 from 4-8pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 9:30am at Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon. Tom will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, with well deserved military honors.
