Obituary

Eckerson, Thomas Hurley, age 56, died very peacefully July 15, 2011, after a short, but aggressive and brutal battle with cancer, surrounded by his large, loving family.

He is survived by his wife Lynne, his daughters, Kimberly (Brian) Massey and Kylie, and granddaughters, Kendall and Kamryn. His parents are Ted and Valerie; brothers, Teddy (Janet) and David (Christine); and sisters, Terry (Dan) Armstrong and Cheryl (Ken) Morman. He has dozens of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and in-laws who were also positively impacted by his kindness and humor.

His life is defined by his generous heart, love of family and friends, work ethic, keen sense of humor, and positive attitude. He earned the Ironman Award at Robinson High plus a scholarship to the University of Tampa, but his true calling in life was helping others with physical disabilities and challenges. He always provided passionate care and encouragement to those he served. As a certified orthotist, he was the owner/CEO of Tampa Orthotic Management Services (TOMS).

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 23rd, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 4520 S. Manhattan Ave.,(813) 839-5337, followed by a celebration of his life at a reception/luncheon in the Social Hall.
