Fenty-McKenzie, Thelma, 80, of Brandon, FL, passed away on July 25, 2017. Thelma was born in Kingston, Jamaica. She started her working career in the telegraph depart at the Post Office in Jamaica. She went on to attend the Kingston Public Hospital Nursing School. While living in Jamaica, she provided for her family and helped to raise her siblings. She went on to attend the Edinburgh Midwifery Course and worked as a nurse at the St. James Hospital in London. Thelma migrated to the United States in 1968. She worked at Bethesda Hospital and Three Oaks Nursing Home in Chicago, IL for 30 years. She met her current husband, Keeling, while in High School and they were married 22 years ago and retired to Tampa, FL.
Thelma is survived by her loving family, her husband of 22 years, Keeling McKenzie; children, Dale A. Pringle and Desmond G. Fenty Jr; sisters, Rittenalla Pringle-Rowe, and Patricia Campbell; grandchildren, Desmond III, Stephanie, Cheyenne, and Colton; cousins, Audrey Bailey, Gloria Bernard, Dorothy Lindsey, and Ann Curtis-Chambers, cousin-in-law, Gloria Shaw; and daughter-in-law, Maureen Fenty. There will be a funeral service on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, with a visitation one hour prior.
