Susanne Schubert Colon, 90, of Brandon, Florida, passed away October 19, 2021, at her home in Brandon. Susanne was born in Zulzendorf, Frankenstein, Silesia, Germany on May 8, 1931. She became a U.S. citizen in 1957 after coming to the United States. She married the love of her life, Miguel Colon, while he was stationed in the military in Germany. They were married almost 60 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Miguel Colon, her father, Hans, her mother, Gertrud Freitag, and a brother. Susanne is survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of close friends and neighbors.

After living in New York, Texas, Savannah, Georgia, and Orlando, Florida, she moved to Brandon, Florida, where she resided at her death. Susanne was a member of the Church of God which she attended faithfully in Plant City and Brandon.

Susanne had a gift of hospitality. She enjoyed having friends and family in her home where she would always have coffee and a dessert on her finest china or special dishes. She enjoyed making place mats with yarn in order to give to her friends on special occasions. If Susanne knew someone in need, she would always help. She will be remembered for her hospitality and her gifts of chocolate candy that she bestowed on her friends or acquaintances at one time or another.

On October 26, 2021, friends and family will gather to celebrate Susanne's life at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, Florida. The viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
