IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Susan J.
Weinberg
April 28, 1948 – May 13, 2023
Susan Joan Weinberg, 75 , of Valrico, Florida passed away peacefully after a prolonged illness at Lakes at Lutz Rehabilitation and Healthcare Facility in Lutz, Florida on Saturday May 13, 2023.
Susan was born in Detroit Michigan. Her parents June and Max and brother Jerome Weinberg predeceased her in death.
Susan attended Vandenberg Elementary and Junior High in Detroit. Susan also attended Hebrew School at Shaarey Zedek in Southfield. She graduated from Henry Ford High School in Detroit and went on to Wayne State University where she received her Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree.
Susan enjoyed a long career as a lecturer, trainer, and educator for Karmanos Cancer Institute, The American Heart Association, and the American Red Cross.
Eventually she retired in 2012 and came to live in Valrico, Florida upon the death of her brother Jerry, who resided there. Although she had many opportunities, she never married.
Susan was an avid animal lover. She especially loved her West Highland White Terrier, Maddie.
Susan has many loved ones. First her beloved cousin, Dr. Joel Smiler, his spouse Kathy, and their sons Brian, Michael, Andrew, and Peter. She had a close friend in Florida, Holly Ferguson, who, along with Cousin Joel helped her through her long terminal illness. She also had lifelong friends from Michigan. Peter Perlman, his spouse Carrie, Mary Helen Perlman, her children Matt and Julie, Andrea Bronson, her daughter Sarah Grogan, and too many friends to list.
Susan was always there for her family and friends. Her smile and bubbly personality filled the room. Anyone who knew her would mention her quick wit, leaving everyone laughing. She was just fun to be around.
After moving to Florida, Susan found that she enjoyed karaoke and she excelled at it. Her local friends would be amazed at how she memorized every word and had the house rocking! Susan was also a big fan of the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team. She often watched them at one of her favorite hangouts or attended a game in person with some of her friends. She liked dining out, which she did often, and enjoyed every minute of it.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Serenity Meadows Memorial Park located at 6919 Providence Rd., Riverview, Florida. This will be a graveside service only.
