Kelly, Steve, 56, of Brandon, Fl was what you refer to as a proud Floridian and easily the most liked person in the room. As a recently retired train conductor with CSX, he chose to spend his days searching for antiques with his loving wife and best friend, Steve Cleghorn, and rooting on his favorite Tampa sports teams (begrudgingly at times). As a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, he shared a deep respect for both his country and those who risked their lives to protect it. He was simply an awesome person, with a kind heart, a quick wit, and a lot of love to give. His family and friends all agreed that he was a man of varied interest, who lived his life to the fullest, and, it's because of this that his unexpected passing on Sunday, May 15th, brings such great sorrow to those who were lucky enough to have known him. He is survived by his wife, Karen; his son, Steven Jr; daughter, Allison; brother, Pete Kelly; sister, Jill Navratil (husband John); father-in-law Norman Cleghorn; and "pops" to Eboni MacDonald. He is also survived by his four-legged best friend, Darla, and a large, loving family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Dick Kelly; mother, Betty Jo Kelly; mother-in-law, Maria Cleghorn; and sisters, Janis Kelly, Bonnie Tanner, and Kristy Bartlett. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Homeless Empowerment Program, a non-profit supporting local veterans in need. A celebration of life service will be held this Sunday, May 22, 1-4 p.m. at the Tampa Pitcher Show, 14416 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33618.
