Son Xuan Dau, age 77, passed away on April 3, 2023, in Tampa, Florida. Son was born on May 18, 1946 in Hà Tĩnh, Vietnam to ÔB Đậu Dương Khanh.

Son attended Saigon University Faculty of Law in Saigon, Vietnam before being drafted into the Vietnamese Military Academy in Thủ Đức, Vietnam. As a Lieutenant in the Military Police Forces, he was detained in a re-education camp after the fall of South Vietnam. He escaped the prison camp in 1979 before finally arriving in the US in 1981 by way of Malaysia (1980).

In 1983, he met and fell in love with Cindy Lieu Dau, his wife of 39 years. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend to many. He was an avid tennis player in his younger years before becoming a savvy fisherman and golfer later in life. Son loved socializing with his friends, being ông ngoại to his ten beautiful grandchildren, and left this world with minimal suffering, living life to the fullest. He left this world with dignity and respect, exactly as he wished. Son passed peacefully, surrounded by his family praying at his bedside for the Lord to welcome him into His Kingdom.

Son is survived by his wife, Cindy Lieu Dau; his children, Yen Irerua, Lauren Dau, Christine Dau, Cathy Yaeckel, Caroline Dau; his grandchildren, Austin and Brandon Tran, Cameron Nanton, Jacob Irerua, Bree and Harper Truong, Teegan and Tyson Yaeckel, Jameson and Hannah Waraksa; and his brothers and sisters, Đậu thị Kim Hà, chồng và các con cháu (Vietnam), Đậu thị Kim Hải, chồng và các con cháu (USA), Đậu thị Kim Hồng, chồng và các con cháu (Vietnam), Đậu thị Kim Hạnh, chồng và các con cháu (USA), Đậu Hữu Phúc, vợ và các con cháu (USA), Đậu thị Kim Cúc, chồng và các con (USA), Đậu Quang Lộc, vợ và các con (USA).

He is preceded in death by his parents, ÔB Đậu Dương Khanh; his sister, Đậu thị Kim Huyền; and his brother, Đậu Quang Thọ.

A gathering of his friends and family will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 5-7pm at Serenity Meadows, 6919 Providence Rd, Riverview, FL 33578, 813-677-9494. A service will begin at 6pm.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 11am at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 10118 St Stephen Cir, Riverview, FL 33569. A graveside service will immediately follow at Serenity Meadows for those who wish to attend.
