Obituary

Fields, Sidwell Osler entered into eternal rest on the evening of October 6, 2014. He was the fourth of nine children born to the late Iris and Carlington Field on the island of Barbados. After completing his education he was employed at the Highway and Transport Company, nicknamed as the H & T, which was a few miles from his home. He accompanied his parents to Six Roads Seventh Day Adventist church weekly, where he later gave his life to the Lord through Baptism. He held several offices where he challenged the youth to sacrifice their time and talents to the Lord. He loved to travel, and was fortunate to visit Aruba, Bermuda, St. Maarten and The Bahamas, to mention a few. He also loved reading, watching cricket, baseball, boxing and playing dominoes. In April 1959, he was offered the opportunity to travel to Middlesex, England, where he worked with the London Transport as a Bus Conductor for nineteen years. As a man of his word, he kept his promise to his friend Daphne Greene to stay in touch although they would be miles apart. After a two year engagement, he decided it was time to tie the knot, and on December 14, 1963, he married his long time sweetheart, Daphne Greene. This union produced three children; Carolyn Lumpkin, Michael & Mark Fields. He was an exceptional father and he ensured that his children were given the best education so that they could lead productive lives. After visiting his relatives in the USA in 1975, he felt that there were better opportunities for his family so they migrated to Brooklyn, New York in May 1979. He was fortunate to obtain employment at Lowell-Light Manufacturing Company in Brooklyn, New York where he worked until his retirement in December 2004. He and his wife relocated to Valrico, Florida where he quickly made friends with his neighbors, and remained active until illness hindered him from his activities. He leaves to mourn, his Wife - Daphne Fields. Daughters - Doriel Small-Lugo and Carolyn Lumpkin. Sons -Michael & Mark Fields. Grandson - Ryan Lumpkin. Sisters - Joyce Clarke, Grace Estwick, Olive Waithe and Eunice Field. Brother - Herbert Field. Aunt - Muriel Randall. Uncle - Clement Braithwaithe. Sons-in-law - Jose Lugo, & Terrance Lumpkin.
