ERWIN, Shirley June Whitton, 87, of Brandon, passed away on July 2, 2012. Mrs. Erwin was a loving mother devoted to her family and her faith. Her quiet strength and dignity were lasting influences on anyone who came in contact with her. She was born on December 7, 1924 in Detroit, MI to Lloyd Harvey Whitton and Elizabeth E. Hussey. In her early adult years she worked for Detroit Diesel, GMC, Syracuse University, and the University of Tampa, but she was most proud of her years as a caregiver for many families in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area. She was an active member of the Bloomingdale Brethren Church and Brandon New Hope Church. She is survived by her loving family: children, Laura Schiffhauer (Dan) of Tabernacle, NJ, Gale Pack (Stephen) of Seffner, FL , David C. (Tracy) Erwin of Brandon, FL, and daughter- in -her- heart Lori Voigt (Kurt) of St. Petersburg; grandchildren, Derek and Ryan Pack, Sam and Mara Schiffhauer, and Emalie, Evan and Faith Erwin. She also leaves behind her ever- faithful companion Scooter. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 11:00 am at Brandon New Hope Church to celebrate her life.
