Shirley Jean Black (DeHate, Tacey) 78 of Bay City, Michigan was called to her eternal home on September 17, 2023 in Riverview, Florida. She was born on November 10, 1944 in Bay City, Michigan to her parents Jane and Harold DeHate. Shirley was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Clyde Black. Her first husband Albert Tacey Jr. and their three loving sons, Albert & Brenda Tacey, Todd & Stacey Tacey, and Christopher Tacey. She will be deeply missed by her four grandchildren, Patrick Tacey, Gage, Lily, and Tate Tacey. Shirley is also survived by her sister, Leila & Jim Sleeper, her brother Harold DeHate and two step children Tommy and Tiffany Black along with many wonderful Red Hat Friends and lots of Sunday School and Church friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jane Stuck, her father, Harold DeHate, and her granddaughter, Samantha Tacey.
Shirley pursued higher education at the University of Tampa, where she became a Registered Nurse in 1993. She dedicated her career to being an Open Heart Nurse for many years, providing compassionate care to those in need.
In her free time, Shirley enjoyed being a Master Gardner and held the esteemed position of Vice Queen of the Brassy and Sassy Red Hats of Valrico. Her green thumb and zest for life will be remembered by all who knew her.
A celebration service to honor Shirley's life will be held on October 7th, 2023 at Serenity Meadows in Riverview, Florida. Visitation
will begin at 10:00am, followed by a service at 11:00am. A gathering will take place after the service at First Baptist Church of Brandon.
Shirley Jean Black will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
