August 8, 1950 – August 1, 2024
Sheryl Ann Boyle, 73, loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, in Tampa, Florida, after a long illness. She was born August 8, 1950, in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Sheryl married her husband, Gary Boyle, November 27, 1971, in Norfolk, Virginia.
Sheryl graduated in 1981 from the University of Maryland with a bachelor's degree in education. Accompanying her U.S. Air Force (USAF) husband, she taught elementary grades for two decades in Florida, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. public schools, as well as in Germany and Spain for the U.S. Department of Defense. Sheryl consistently earned high ratings, achievement awards and bonuses for teaching excellence and student performance.
Sheryl is survived by her spouse of 52 years, Gary Boyle, of Valrico, FL; her son, Lieutenant Colonel (Chaplain) Ryan Boyle, USAF, of Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan; her sister, Ivy Oliasami, and her spouse, Jeffrey, of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; and her brothers, Marc Hibbs of Kill Devil Hills, NC; and Kevin Hibbs of Antelope, CA. Sheryl is predeceased by her parents, Katherine and Alvin Hibbs, and, sadly, her youngest son, Matthew Boyle.
A visitation service will be held in the Serenity Meadows Funeral Home in Riverview, Florida on August 9, 2024 from 7-8:30 pm. A funeral mass celebrated by her son, Father Ryan Boyle, will be held in the Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon, Florida on August 10, 2024, at 10 am. Interment will follow immediately in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sheryl's name to a charity of choice, such as, ChildFund, PO Box 1911, Merrifield, VA 22116-1911, www.childfund.org. Condolences to the family may be expressed via the funeral home, either online (www.serenitymeadows.com) or via mail.
Thank you to Sheryl's closest family and friends, LifePath Hospice of Tampa, FL (Sun City Resource Center); Home Helpers Home Care of East Tampa (Brandon, FL), and Visiting Angels of Hillsborough County, FL (Sun City Center, FL) – all of whom long cared for Sheryl.

She leaves a legacy treasured by her family, friends and students, filled with memories of friendships formed, good times shared, and laughter through the years. Her example encourages us to live our lives with purpose, to make the most of the time we have, and to leave a positive legacy for those who come after us.
To honor Sheryl's memory, we are holding a celebration of her life from 2-5 pm on August 10, 2024 at Maggiano's Little Italy in Tampa, FL. We invite anyone who knew Sheryl to attend and remember her wonderful life.
