Obituary

Sharon Rusk

Born and raised in the western suburbs of Chicago, Sharon Rusk was a beautiful soul—vibrant, loving, and full of life. She was the heart of her family, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of so many.

Sharon married her soulmate, Richard Rusk, on July 7, 1967, and together they shared 57 wonderful years of love, laughter, and adventure. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Alece Studtmann; her cherished grandchildren, Nina Studtmann and James R. Studtmann; and her dear sister, Ginny Riordon. She also leaves behind many neighbors whom she considered dear friends. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Virginia Chmelik and William Piper; her brother, Bill Piper; and the dogs she adored like children.

Sharon was a natural entrepreneur with a creative spirit. She built, owned, and operated Sharon's Coffee in Elmhurst, Illinois, a warm and welcoming space where she connected with her community. Later, she became a beloved activities director at Jellystone Campground in Pierceston, Indiana, bringing joy and energy to all those around her.

She lived life to the fullest, always seeking joy in the little things. Sharon had a hat for every occasion, a passion for dance, and led the Classy Sassy Lassies dance group for many years. She loved thrifting, garage sales, crafting, collecting jewelry, attending auctions, watching movies, and even starting new businesses just for fun. Her generosity, humor, and boundless energy made her unforgettable.

Sharon was the greatest mother, wife, grandmother, and friend anyone could ask for, and her love will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. In lieu of flowers or memorial gifts, donations may be made to Lighthouse for the Blind, a cause close to her heart.

Her family invites all who knew and loved her to celebrate her incredible life and legacy. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
