Segundo Jose F. Gonzalez, 68, of Valrico, has ascended into the heavens, January 11, 2010. Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Mr. Gonzalez has been a local resident since 1982. He was a retired army airborne veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division one of the most prestigious and battle experienced military units in the American Army. He was proudly part of the history of thousands of American soldiers trained and ready to parachute into extreme battlefield situations and to achieve their military objectives on the ground no matter the conditions. Because he was an "All American" his interment will be at Florida National Cemetery 6502 SW 102nd Avenue Bushnell, FL 33513
Mr. Gonzalez was a very active parishioner at Nativity Catholic Church where they will be offering his Memorial Mass at 705 East Brandon Blvd., Brandon, FL 33511, services will begin with a Rosary at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2010 followed with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. In his healthier years he was even president of his local Legion of Mary Council and also a Eucharistic Minister. He devoted much if of his life to helping others. He was happiest when he was contributing to ones betterment. He did this by visiting the elderly and/or sick shut-ins at their homes, in hospitals, or in nursing homes; consequently, his life was one full of service.
Survivors include his one & only loving wife of 36 years, Edith, son; Francisco Jose (Elizabeth) Gonzalez of Clover, S.C., daughters; Maria L. (Sharif) Rasmy and of Orlando, FL., Rosa M. Gonzalez of Tampa, FL., sisters; Pilar Gonzalez and Carmen B. Gonzalez both of Lares, Puerto Rico.
