Sara Maud Dowdy, age 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a 6 month battle with pneumonia on April 24, 2019.

She was born March 5, 1931 in Dover, TN.  In High School she met her husband, Leland Dowdy and got married at the age of 17 on October 16, 1948.  They had two children, Ben and Susan.  In 1979, they relocated to Brandon, FL with Ben and their daughter-in-law, Nancy.  During their time in Brandon, they gained two grandchildren, Jennifer and Megan, and two great grandchildren.

In 2016, her husband past away, and they were separated after almost 68 years of marriage.  Sara moved to Hawthorne Independent Living where she resided for the last three years.  At Hawthorne, she made strong friendships, enjoyed watching movies, and all the activities that they provided.

To fulfill final wishes, a private service will be held for both Leland and Sara at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
