Sandra Kay "Sandy" Harris Birkhead passed away peacefully at her home on February 5, 2026.

Sandy was born on June 28, 1946 in Petersburg, VA. She moved to Pitt County, NC where she had three sons. Sandy was preceded in death by Edward Preston Birkhead Jr. After her divorce she moved to Hyattsville, Md. Sandy was a very hard worker as a single parent. While in Maryland she worked for Georgetown University Hospital & Tyler printing. She moved to Riverview, Florida by the request of her son and his wife, to help raise Tyler while they both had to work. She was a loving grandmother "Grammy".

Sandra moved to Cape Coral to help take care of her mother. When her mom passed in 2004, she moved back to the Tampa Bay area eventually moving back in with her son, Tim. She kept in touch with family and friends, making random calls just to check in on people.

Sandy is survived by her sons, Robert and Timothy, her grandchildren Tyler, Eric and Andrea along with two great grandchildren, Ollie and Orson.

While saying goodbye is hard, we have the assurance that she is in the loving hands of Jesus Christ.
