Obituary

Sally Ann Dietrich Wiley (nee Lehman) passed away peacefully the day after her 93rd birthday with several of her family members by her side.

Born in 1931 in Chicago IL to Ralph and Ida Lehman, she spent most of her childhood between Onekama MI and Chicago IL. She graduated in 1950 from Lucy Flower High, an all girls trade school, in Chicago. Showing an aptitude for art she enrolled at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 1952. She met her first husband, Paul Dietrich, while still attending art school and just prior to him enlisting in the US Air Force.  Sally and Paul were married in 1952. Following her graduation, she joined Paul where he was stationed in Biloxi, MS where they started their family. Following his discharge from the Air Force, Paul began his career with the Federal Aviation Administration in the field of ground radar. Sally and Paul went on to have six children and several grandchildren. As Paul advanced with the FAA, the family moved to Aurora IL, Grand Rapids MI, Hanover Park IL and lastly Medina OH where Paul unexpectedly passed away in September 1978 at the age of 45.

After a few years in Ohio, Sally moved to Florida to care for her aging parents. Her lifelong passion for fine arts led her to begin teaching art while also being commissioned to paint several murals and other pieces of artwork that are still displayed throughout Florida. It was during this time that she met Jim Wiley whom she dated and eventually married in 1996. Jim and Sally embarked on several years of travel, visiting Sally's six children and numerous grandchildren and Jim's four children and several grandchildren. They also accompanied Sally's parents on their annual family reunions. Following the passing of Sally's parents, they relocated to Blairsville, GA where they spent 20+ years caring for their beautiful yard and home located at the base of the Appalachian Mountains. Sally's daughter Karen provided care for them for many years before they all moved to Sun City Center, Florida in the spring of 2024.

Sadly, three weeks prior to Sally's death, her husband Jim passed away unexpectedly. Sally was predeceased by her infant brother Michael, her first husband Paul, two grandsons Matthew and Benjamin, her parents, two sons Ralph and Daniel (Sharon) and her second husband Jim.

Sally is survived by David (Gretchen), Paula Schultheis (Todd), Thomas (Kelly) and Karen Rice along with 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren, along with her stepchildren Michael (Terry), Beth Graves (Will), David (Bonnie) and Chris (Jo Ann) and their seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

As per her wishes, Sally was cremated. A celebration of life for both Sally and Jim will be announced at a later date. They will be interred together in Blairsville, GA
