Obituary

Ruby Corrine (Horn) Cooper – Of Lake passed away at Brandon Regional Hospital in Brandon, Florida on February 26, 2022 at the age of 85. Ruby was born to parents Fredrick and Florence (Brown) Horn in Youngstown, OH, on July 29, 1936. She graduated from Dearborn HS in 1954. Her passions were roller skating and bowling. On October 15, 1955 Ruby married Les Cooper at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Detroit.

Ruby retired in 2001 from the Livonia (Michigan) School District where she was a School Bus Driver for over 15 years. At that point, she moved to the family vacation home in Lake, MI with her husband Les.

Ruby was a 56-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Her accomplishments included serving as an organizer for the Van Buren Eagles Aerie 3996, being the Auxiliary State Madam President, East Central Regional President, State Hall of Fame, Auxiliary State Madam Secretary, Auxiliary State Madam Treasurer, Local Secretary at Lake #3671 for over ten years, Mother of the Year, and International Woman of the Year. She was loved and will be dearly missed by her Auxiliary Sisters and Eagle Family.

Ruby enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Ruby is survived by her children; Laurinda Cunningham (Ronald Cunningham, Sr.), Darcy Cooper (Judy Revells), Cindy Farmer, Leslie Cunningham (Larry James), Brian Cooper (Stacey Cooper), and Bertrand W. Cooper III (Pamela Cooper). Grandchildren; Ann, Jennifer (Brian), Ronald II, Mike (Maja), Jeremy (Nicki), Kelly, Danielle, Frances (Steve), Darryl, Gabe (Ed), Alyssa, Keenan, Hailey and Shayna. Great grandchildren; Kylie (Seth), Rya, Angel, Kelsey, Ashley, Shylah, Jozef, Carter, Bishop, Brady, Emelia, Charlie, Jaxson, Alessa, and Jaymeson. Great-great grandchildren; Gideon and Rhodie.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Cooper, grandson, Chris Cooper, as well as her parents Fred and Florence Horn, and siblings Fred, Celia and Ralph Horn.  According to her wishes, a cremation has taken place. There are no services scheduled at this time.  In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to Breast Cancer Research.
