Ronald I. Kinkeade, 78, of Valrico, Florida, died at 6:03 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Brandon Regional Hospital in Brandon, Florida.
Born June 8, 1943, in Ft. Madison, IA, he was the son of Irvin Junior Kinkeade and Marion Kudebeh Swearingen. Ivan Swearingen was his stepfather. On December 31, 1984, he married Bettie Ford Almendinger who survives.
Mr. Kinkeade was an engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring after 35 years. He was an Army veteran, serving in Germany. He enjoyed camping, tinkering with computers and other gadgets and spending time with family and his Labradoodle, Goober.
Survivors include one brother, Clinton (Arla) Derr of Missouri; two half-brothers, Ivan (Rhonda) Swearingen Jr. of Ft. Madison, IA and Lyle (Karla) Price of Oklahoma; one son, John Almendinger of Burlington, IA; three daughters, Kim (Kevin) Long of Burlington, IA, Trina Menken of Riverview, FL and Kendra (Sean) Brockett of Valrico, FL; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather.
Mr. Kinkeade was a fun-loving, generous man with a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed telling stories and making others laugh. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is being cremated with a private celebration of life with family.
