Rona L. McKay, 80, a resident of Brandon, FL, died peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2026 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

She was born on August 31, 1946 to Ronald L. Toy and Twila J. Keeley-Toy of Rouseville, Pennsylvania.

Rona was a graduate of Oil City High School in Oil City, Pennsylvania in 1964. She met and later married her husband of 60 years, Ralph E. McKay, who survives her.

She prided herself on being a homemaker, loving wife and mother. She was the voice of reason, a compassionate listener, steadfast defender, maker of the best Thanksgiving stuffing and gravy, animal lover, and slot machine aficionado at the Hard Rock Casino. She enjoyed shopping, reading and spending time with her family.

In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her daughter, Melissa McKay-Greenwood and her husband Robert Greenwood of Lithia, FL.

Also surviving are her grandchildren, Christopher Greenwood and his fiancee Danielle Faller, Chloe Greenwood and Justin Greenwood.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ronald L. Toy and Twila J. Toy along with numerous aunts and uncles.

The family would like to thank Rona’s caregivers at Solaris Healthcare in Plant City, FL and LifePath Hospice for their compassionate, dignified and loving care up until the very end.

The family requests that any donations be made to LifePath Hospice in lieu of flowers.

There will be a visitation held at 10:30 a.m. for Rona on Thursday, September 10. 2026 at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home.
