Alfonso, Roland C., 90, of Wimauma, passed away on February 19, 2014. Roland was a lifelong resident of the Tampa Bay Area, he was born in St. Petersburg, FL to the late, Wenceslao and Thelma Alfonso, and an Alumni of USF. He proudly served in the United States Navy, Army and Air Force; after 30 years of military service he retired from MacDill Air Force Base. During his time in the military he was a WWII POW for 3 years and was twice the recipient of a Purple Heart. He was a lifelong member of the Ruskin VFW 6287. Roland enjoyed sailing and spending time with his family. Roland is survived by his loving family, his wife, Benita; sons, Roland "Troop" Alfonso, II, and Joe Bodrie; daughter, Connie Palmer and her husband Drew; and grandchildren, Patrick, Roland, III, Patricia and Joe. Roland will be laid to rest at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
