Robert Michael Murray died peacefully, surrounded by family in Tampa, FL on September 21, 2024, at the age of 75.

Robert Murray is survived by his wife Kay Murray of Brandon, FL; children, Scott Murray (Danie) of Ft. Myers, FL; Matthew Murray (Eleanor and grandchildren Harper and Maddox) of Madison, AL; siblings Marie Clark (Bill) of Overland Park, KS, Pat Murray of Meriden, KS, Tim Murray (Alisa) of Topeka, KS, Brian Murray (Denise) of Hoyt, KS, Beverly Lacey of Overland Park, KS, Dennis Murray (Pam) of Topeka, KS, Denton Murray of Topeka, KS. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Maxine Murray of Mayetta, KS.

Robert Murray was born on September 11, 1949, in Axtel, KS to Thomas and Maxine Murray. He graduated from Mayetta High School in 1967. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 26 years as an Air Traffic Controller. He deployed multiple times which included Japan, Vietnam, and the Persian Gulf. He married Kay Ellen Godejohn in 1972, and they welcomed 2 children to the family. Scott was born in 1978 and Matthew in 1981. After his retirement from the Air Force, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Leo College 1999. He continued working until 2010 with the United States Post Office. He and Kay celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this past summer.

His children and grandchildren remember him as a kind, gentle and playful person who always volunteered his time with St. Stephen Catholic Church, neighbors, friends and family. He enjoyed gardening, exercising, and was an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan.
A funeral is scheduled for November 9th, 2024, at 1130 at St. Stephen Catholic Church Chapel in Riverview, FL. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Robert Murray's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, FL at https://suncoasthospicefoundation.org/donations2/. The family would like to thank Inspired Living Memory Care of Sun City Center, FL, for the care he received, as a resident. A very special thank you to Empath Suncoast Hospice at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, FL for their dedication and level of care, to make his last days peaceful and comfortable.
