Obituary

HOUGHTON, Robert P. Age 67, a resident of Dover, FL passed away suddenly
on August 1, 2023. Son of the late Norman R. and Antoinette M. Houghton Jr.
of Stoneham, MA. Beloved husband of the late Kerry Elliot.  Cherished father
of Jessica Houghton, Gina Houghton and their mother Pamela Houghton of
Plymouth, MA.  Beloved grandfather of Katelyn and Stephanie.   Cherished
brother of Kenneth Houghton & his wife Deborah of Wakefield, Judith Catino
& her husband Edward of Medford, Norman Houghton, III & his wife Rita of
Ft. Myers, FL and John Houghton & his wife Patricia of Salem, NH. Also
survived by 6 nieces and 4 nephews.
Bob was born in Malden and grew up in Stoneham. He played baseball and
football throughout his school years, and also enjoyed skiing.  He graduated
from Stoneham High School and was a member of the varsity football team.
Bob had many friends in Stoneham! Bob attended East Coast Aero-Tech where
he graduated as a certified airplane mechanic.  He took a job with Sikorsky
Aircraft in Connecticut, but after a short time, he left there and took a job with
Pitney Bowes as a service representative. He eventually started his own
business selling and servicing Pitney Bowes office equipment.
When business began to fall off, Bob decided to take a job in Florida with
SPXFLOW where he serviced homogenizers for the juice industry, dairy
industry, paint, and any products that required homogenization.  His job
required him to travel to many places across the US and sometimes out of the
country.
Years after coming to Florida, Bob joined a Fellowship that loved him and
pointed him toward God, saving his life and showing him a wonderful new
one.  Bob went on to become a mentor to men teaching them what he had
learned, showing them love, and pointing them toward God.  He regularly
attended meetings over the last 17 years, where he joyfully and graciously
shared his experience, strength, and hope with a countless number of people
encouraging them to carry on.  Bob always led with his heart, he was genuine,
and his actions were an example to everyone he met.  He leaves behind a
second family in this Fellowship, many whose lives are better for knowing
him.
Bob loved to travel with his wife Kerry visiting many of the national parks
across the country.  He was an avid golfer and a motorcycle enthusiast.  He
enjoyed playing online chess with his longtime friend Jack. He loved his family
very much and often made the trip from Florida to Massachusetts on holidays
and special occasions, to see his parents, daughters, granddaughters, brothers,
and sister.  He also arranged several family vacations at Lake Winnipesaukee
NH.
In early 2023 Bob retired from his career after 33 years. He was adjusting well
and kept very busy. As a member of Diamond Hill Golf and Country Club, he
played golf 3 to 4 times a week. On Tuesday night he played pool for Tony's

Tigers. Bob was an avid sports fan.  His favorite team was anything Boston. He
loved working in the yard and floating in the pool. He enjoyed riding his
Harley with friends and falling asleep to Archie Bunker or a game of pool on
T.V.
Bob was a born again Christian and had put his faith in Jesus Christ many years
ago.  He can now look forward to the great day of resurrection when the Lord
will return and the dead in Christ will rise to be with Him forever.  Bob will be
missed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, 8/26/23 at 12:00pm at Bay Life
Church in Brandon, Florida.
