Obituary

Ellis, Robert Misner, Lt. Col. Ret., 90, of Valrico passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012. The son of Clayton Ellis and Geraldine Misner, Bob lived most of his life in Springville, NY. During WWII, he served as a B-17 pilot, completing 38 successful missions before rotating back to the U.S. to transition into B-29's. A successful Real Estate Broker for some 60 years, Bob stayed in the USAF Reserve, where he attained the rank of Lt. Col., before retiring in 1984. He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia, in 2001 and his half-sister Christine West, and is survived by sons, Robert C. (and wife Sylvia) of Valrico, Florida; Richard J. (and wife Carol) of Winter Park, Florida; and sister, Sally Dwyer of Victor, New York. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Robert J. (and wife Tricia); Richard C.; Stephen L.; Katherine V. and two great-grandchildren, Jack Robert and Anna Claire. Bob was active in Republican politics, President of the NYS Route 219 Association where he was instrumental in having US Route 219 approved to be built between Buffalo and Washington, D.C. He was an avid golfer, a Rotarian and a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. But, most of all, he was a good husband, father and a friend that you could count on. He will be missed. Services will be held on Friday, June 29 at 11:00 AM; at the Regent at 6734 Watson Rd., Riverview, FL 33578. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Preschool Learning Center (League for the Handicapped), 393 North Street, Springville, NY 14141.
