Obituary

Robert Martin Bastin of Valrico, Florida passed away on March 26, 2023 at Lifepath
Hospice House in Sun City Center, Florida. He was predeceased by his parents, Rudolph
and Mary Bastin. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Patricia (née Frangione); his devoted
children Robert II (Samantha) and Michele; his dear siblings Maryann (Peter) Cistaro and
Rudy (Veronica) Bastin; his beloved grandchildren Ashlee and Zachary; and an adoring
extended family. He was born on January 24, 1949 in Jersey City, New Jersey. Bob met the love of his life
and his forever partner Patricia in 1967. During their first dates, they loved to laugh &
take many trips to the Jersey Shore together, until Bob was drafted to serve our country
in Vietnam. Bob accepted that call with grace. During his time in the military, Bob was awarded the
Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his bravery. He came home a hero and he
remained a hero to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Following his honorable discharge, Bob and Patricia married in September 1970. They
later moved to Howell, New Jersey to raise their family. In 1994, they relocated to
Valrico, Florida. Bob was employed at The Clorox Company for 47 years until his beyond
well-deserved retirement. The word "loyal" does not even begin to describe Bob. He
was truly one of a kind.
Bob's greatest joy was his cherished family. He and Patricia loved visiting their son and
daughter-in-law in New Port Richey and traveling to New York to see their daughter.
Above all, Bob rejoiced in spending time with his grandchildren, both of whom he was
incredibly proud of and loved to the moon.
A devout Roman Catholic, Bob was a parishioner of Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon,
Florida. He will be forever in the hearts of everyone who loved him.
Visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on April 4 at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park
Funeral Home, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, Florida 33578. A Funeral Mass will be
held on April 5 at 11am at Nativity Catholic Church, 705 E Brandon Blvd, Brandon,
Florida 33511.
