Richard (Dick) Alan Van Buskirk, age 89, of Riverview Florida passed away December 14, 2021. Richard was born in Geneva, New York on September 14, 1932 to Lawrence and Mable Van Buskirk. Dick graduated from Geneva High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September 1952. Dick served on the U.S.S. Arcadia and the U.S.S Cascade from 1952 to 1956.
Richard married Helen Louise Brannon on May 23, 1953. On April 22, 1954 he and Helen were blessed with their first child, a daughter, Terry Lea. On December 22, 1955 their blessed son James Richard was born. Dick was honorably discharged from the navy in 1956 and began a four year apprenticeship at the American Can Manufacturing Facility in Geneva, New York. Dick became an employee at G.W. Lisk Incorporated, Clifton Springs, New York where he was a machinist and foreman for 35 years, then retired in December of 1994.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mable, his son, James Richard Van Buskirk also his brother Leon Van Buskirk. Richard is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen, his daughter Terry (David), grandchildren Adam Van Buskirk, Jason Darling, Dustine Mullen, Michelle, Michael and Allison Miller and 8 great grandchildren.
Dick will be laid to rest in the Oak Lawn Cemetery, Oaks Corner, New York, in the spring.
