Richard Charles McCants III

Richard Charles McCants III, 55, passed away on August 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love for his family and friends. Born on July 31, 1971, at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, Richard's life was marked by adventure, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear.

As the child of a military family, Richard spent his formative years living in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and the Panama Canal Zone. These experiences helped shape his adaptability, resilience, and outgoing personality. His million-dollar smile and infectious laugh is remembered by everyone he came in contact with. No matter where life took him,

Richard had a unique ability to make lasting friendships and leave a positive impression on those around him. Richard graduated from Niceville High School in 1989, where he was a proud member of the Niceville Eagles football team. He was part of the 1988 Florida State Championship team, an achievement he carried with pride throughout his life. The lessons of teamwork, discipline, and camaraderie he learned on the football field remained with him long after graduation.

Following high school, Richard answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. During his three years of honorable service, he distinguished himself through dedication and excellence. His military honors included the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, and Meritorious Unit Commendation. Richard also earned recognition as an Expert Sharpshooter, a reflection of his skill and commitment to his duties. His military service was a source of great pride and exemplified the values of honor, courage, and selfless service that defined his character.

After completing his military service, Richard settled in Tampa, Florida, which he proudly called home for many years. There he found his passion in the moving industry and driving truck. He loved being on the road and helping people make the journey to their new homes effortless. Richard was known for his infectious smile, generous spirit, sense of humor, and his ability to bring people together. Whether sharing stories, offering support, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, he made everyone around him feel valued and appreciated.

Richard is survived by his wife, Angela McCants; his children, Tori McCants, Marisa McCants, MacLaren "Mac" McCants, and Richard "Charlie" McCants IV; his parents, Margie McCants and Richard McCants (Regina); his sisters, Tonja McCants and Alesha Smith (Brian); his brothers, Adron Robinson (Brenda), Mark Frisbie (Charity), Troy Siegler, Ronald Siegler (Pamela) and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will continue to honor and cherish his memory. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Charles McCants.

Richard's life was one of service, loyalty, compassion, and strength. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched, the family he loved so deeply, and the friendships he cultivated throughout his journey. Though he will be greatly missed, his legacy will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. 

Richard's family finds comfort in God's promise of eternal peace: "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:4

While his absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him, they rejoice in knowing that Richard is now free from pain and suffering, resting in God's eternal presence. His memory, love, and legacy will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. 

Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
