Richard Diaz (Ricardo Diaz-Canto) passed away on July 2, 2019 at the Sun City Center Hospice House in Ruskin, FL following a brief illness.  He is survived by a daughter, Janice Diaz.  He was preceded in death by h is parents, his wife, Carmen and his brother, Jose.  Born on March 26, 1933 in Tampa, FL, the son of Ricardo Diaz Canto and Amelia (Garcia-Alonso) Diaz, Richard graduated High School in Tampa, FL.  In June 1962, he married Edna Joyce (Rodriguez) Diaz, later divorced, their daughter Janice lived with her mother following the divorce.  In December 1978, he married Carmen (Lourdes) Diaz.  Richard joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in September 2013.  He often talked about finding a new home there.  Richard worked as a custodian for the Hillsborough County School District, where he would retire.  Later, he worked for several years for Publix Food Services.  When his health declined in 2014, after a brief recovery at Brandon Health & Rehab, he was transferred to Bee Home ALF in Brandon.  Later he was transferred to Brandon Health & Rehab Center in Brandon until the last few days of his life.  He was always the life of the party wherever he was.  He enjoyed Bingo, watching TV and meeting new people.  He was loved by all who knew him.

An inurment will take place at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park, Riverview, FL at a later date.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on July 29, 2019 at 11:00AM at the Meeting house, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1412 John Moore Road, Brandon, FL.
