IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard
Bowers
July 26, 1939 – January 10, 2025
Richard Bowers, 85, of Brandon, Fl. Passed away at home, surrounded by family, Peacefully on January 10, 2025. Deeply loved by everyone and anyone he came across, he will be remembered for his contributions to society through his work as an engineer and Draftsman, most recently at Raytheon, where he was one of the designers for the system that created the Patriot Missile and earlier in his career he worked in helping to design the systems that created Kevlar, in Nuclear Power Plants and most recently Phosphate Plants.
Richard was also a very active member of his church, St. Francis of Assissi Catholic Church in Seffner Florida. He worked as a Eucharistic Minister, alongside his beloved Late Wife, Marie for many years until he was unable to drive anymore, however, that community supported him until the end. He also helped to establish the new San Jose Mission in Dover Florida as a relentless volunteer, hauling building materials and donations many days a week.
Richard was also a brave military veteran, serving in both the US Army and US Air Force Reserves, he proudly wore his dog tag, along with his granddaughter, Ireland's Army dog tag around his neck until the end as he was so proud that she carried on the family tradition.
Known as Dad to Son, Gary Bowers and Wife, Lisa Bowers; Daughter, Shari Bowers; and Son, Barry Bowers. "RoBo" to his multitude of friends, "Pop-Pop" to his Grandchildren; David Bowers, Ireland Negrey, Richard (RJ) Martin and Emmarie Bowers. Rich to his snack Buddy and special helper, Adam Hodges. He was also "Dad" and "Pop-Pop" to several "adopted" children and grandchildren he has collected along the way.
He leaves us all behind as it is his destiny to reunite with his Beloved Wife Marie "Kissy" Bowers, with whom he spent 55 wonderful years and Daughter Terri Lynn Bowers (Garrison) who began their own journeys years ago. Our own Journey here without him will never be the same, without his endless emails or rambling phone messages asking for donuts and coffee or his pills. We will miss you dearly but you live on through all that you have touched. Love you more. More, I win.
