Ricardo Gabriel Argudo, age 61, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016 at home in Tampa, FL. He was born on October 1, 1955 to Segundo Gabriel and Margaret (Moore) Argudo in Houston, TX. Rick attended Admiral Farragut Academy and King High School, later graduating from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL with a degree in Business Administration. While he was attending Eckerd College, Rick founded the water skiing program which is still part of the Eckerd College athletic program. He began his career in International Banking, most notably working with Panamerican bank. In 1989 he started working for Plantain Products Co., founded by his mother and father Margaret and Segundo Argudo, manufacturers of Chifles Plantain chips. He eventually became president, resigning in 2005. He founded a skateboard ministry in Costa Rica, Central America, called Grupo Skate Urbano, inspired by his son Daniel, who was an avid skateboarder growing up. After much hard work on his part, along with help and guidance from Ministries in the US and Internationally, they now have the most successful skateboarding program and ministry for the youth of Central America. He was an avid fisherman and in his later years became a certified judge for bill fishing tournaments worldwide. Rick also attained his Commercial Boat Captains' license which gave him the opportunity to be a part of groups traveling to various countries for their philanthropic outreaches. He was a proud father and leaves behind three children, Andrew Argudo, 19, Melanie Argudo, 22, and Daniel Argudo 30 (wife, Colleen), whom he had with his ex-wife of 27 years, Catherine Argudo; all of the Tampa Bay Area. He also leaves his mother, Margaret Argudo, his sister, Stefanie Argudo Mackenzie both of Brandon, FL, and many other relatives in the US and Ecuador. There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, January 7th at 4:30 pm at Serenity Meadows, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, FL.
