Obituary

Mohip, Ramdial L, of Brandon, 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 17, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at home after a long illness. He was born in California, Trinidad, on March 19, 1933 and was eldest son of Bookali and Luthrie Mohip, who predeceased him. He married Sheila Ramparas on April 25, 1954. He first immigrated to the United States on January 17, 1957 to study Radio and Television Communications at New York Technical Institute. In 1961, he graduated and returned to Trinidad working in management for various companies. His last position was with ANSA Industries, where he rose to the level of General Manager for its West Indies radio and television manufacturing plant.

In 1968, he returned to the United States and continued working in the radio and television communications field. In 1969, his wife and six children immigrated to Brooklyn, NY, to join him. In 1977, he and his family moved to Brandon, FL. He retired as an Instrumental Technician for the City of Tampa in 1983. Bored by retirement, his entrepreneurial spirits lead him to purchase RAMCO, a full service gas station and auto repair shop in Plant City, FL. Due to persistent health issues, once again he retired in 1990.

Always ready for an adventure, Ramdial and his wife Sheila traveled to 5 continents during their 55 plus years of marriage. He was always attached to his camera so that he can capture the "Kodak moments." Generous to a fault, he always extended a helpful hand to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by his immediate and extended family and his large group of supportive friends.

He is survived by his wife of 55 plus years, Sheila; 3 daughters, Annie (Clyde), Aminie, Astrey (Manoj); 3 sons, Annand (Beena), Avind (Gail), and Asuka; 7 grandchildren, Vinode (Avni), Avind, Jr. (Laura), Rajay, Sarah, Alireza, Naresh, Shivani; 1 great-grand daughter, Madelyn; 2 brothers, Indar (Maria) and Harry (Shirley); and many nieces and nephews along with his in-laws, Ramparas family; extended family, Sarina, Nisha, Chrissy, Jocelyn and Analise; There will be a service on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 11:00 am at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home.
