R. Clotiel (Curry) Birch, 81, passed away at her home on Friday, March 11, 2022. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Clotiel (Birch) Elenz, as well as her son-in-law, Troy Elenz (who helped her immensely over the years) and her son, Dean Wade Birch. She was also survived by her loving grandchildren Erin Elenz, Brett W. Birch, Derek R. Birch and Landon D. O'Brien, as well as her sister, Gwen Tober, and her loving cat companion, Shadow. She was preceded by her parents, as well as her step-father, Merton Clayton Parker.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Ms. Birch was the daughter of Ruth E. Hart Parker, and James Curry, and the sister of two brothers who predeceased her, Macel Hart (spouse of Josanne Hart) and Nathan Hart (spouse of Somchintana Hart). Ms. Birch graduated from Brewster High School, where she was a cheerleader and Treasurer of her graduating class.
Ms. Birch spent most of her life in Tampa, Florida, but also lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Bloomington Indiana, and Commerce, Texas, while married to Dr. Wade G. Birch. Over the years, she worked at Sperry Rand Microwave and Elec. Co., the Indiana University Chemistry Department, Yale Forklifts, and the Florida Department of Corrections Regional Office for approximately 30 years, from which she retired.
Ms. Birch was well read, fiercely independent and bright. She loved all animals, especially her cat Shadow and her many other pets over the years. She enjoyed her friends and family, and especially her grandkids. She was fond of life's simple pleasures such as sweet treats, beautiful trees and the birds outside her window at her birdfeeder. She also enjoyed reading the newspaper from cover to cover, keeping up with current events, and watching the occasional cartoon (even with no grandchildren around).
She is dearly missed by her two children, as well as the rest of her family. Services for Ms. Birch have not yet been planned.
