Polly S. Say, of Valrico, Florida, returned to her heavenly home on December 3, 2016, after an acute diagnosis of cancer, only four months earlier. Her firm belief in God, and her devotion to her family and friends, supported her in her struggle and ultimately, gave her peace.
Polly was born to Frederick J. and Lois J. Say, a Pennsylvania bridge and road inspector, and piano teacher, respectively, in Kittanning, PA. on September 4, 1958. She was actively involved in the Christian community, serving from an early age as a camp counselor, international choir member, flutist in the band, and a girl scout.
She graduated from Ford City High School in Ford City, PA (1976), and proceeded to West Virginia Wesleyan College to graduate in 1980, with a Bachelor's Degree. She served as a private school counselor, and a church youth director prior to becoming an investment broker. Polly was one of the founders and an account executive of Calton and Associates of Tampa, FL, from 1987 through 2003.
As an active church member she served in a number of ways, including musician, liturgist, catechist, sponsor to new church members and volunteer for church events.
She resided with her best friend Maggie Brown, and Maggie's mother, Colleen Brown, for most of her adult life. She was a devoted daughter to her parents, and loving aunt to her niece, Christin Hollenbach, and three nephews, Paul Say, Adam Say, and Mark Say, and their respective families including 2 grand-nephews and 4 grand-nieces, as well as very attentive and involved in the lives of Maggie's nieces, Celeste and Katelyn Brown.
Polly leaves her mother, Lois Say of Lakeland, FL., her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Ronald Say and wife Candace of King George, VA., and their 4 children whom she treasured, her dearest friend, Maggie Brown, and many other friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Frederick Say, and her grandparents, Charles and Kathleen Flick, and Harold and Blanche Say.
Polly's funeral mass will be held at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Valrico, FL, at 4 p.m. on Dec. 19, 2016, preceded by a visitation time at the church beginning at 3:30 p.m. with Father Curtis Carro officiating. A reception will follow at her home. Her remains will be interred at Serenity Meadows Cemetery in Riverview, FL, on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, during a private service for the family.
