IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phyllis Annette
Williams
August 14, 1941 – September 24, 2022
On September 24, 2022, Heaven gained an angel when Phyllis Annette Williams, 81, of Valrico FL earned her wings. Born August 1941 in Pembroke, VA, Annette was daughter to William (Bill) Thacker and Frances (Nanny) Jones. If you knew Annette, you knew her smile would light up a room. She was concerned with others' well-being above her own and was a caregiver. If you were in her presence her priority was to ensure your comfort. Whether it be cooking you a full meal (Annette was a great cook) or just getting you a glass of water, her priority was your comfort.
Annette graduated from Pembroke High School in 1959. After graduating she married the love of her life, Gene, in October 1959. Shortly after becoming married Annette and Gene moved to Mount Vernon, Va., where they welcomed the birth of their first child, Merinda, in 1962. A few years later, in 1965 their son, Mark, was born. In 1968 Annette moved to Bangkok, Thailand where she joined the CIA as a Personnel Specialist. After 4 years, she traveled to Taipei, Taiwan for three years before returning to Centreville, VA where she raised her children until retirement in 1995.
In the late '60s and early '70s Annette traveled the world, visiting most countries in Europe and Eastern Asia. In 1995, Annette retired, moved to Valrico, FL and spent much of her time at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. She was very active in the Church, working with several groups/committees and mission trips. She loved her Church. Annette collected Longaberger baskets and Boyds Bears. She loved crafts, tending to her many plants and flowers, working crossword puzzles, and playing Solitaire and Mahjong on her iPad. Her favorite TV shows were Dr. Phil, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy.
Annette is survived by her husband of 63 years, Chapman Eugene (Gene) Williams, daughter Merinda Wolfe and son Mark Williams, granddaughters Christina Wolfe, Elizabeth Wolfe, Jordyn Williams, Peyton Williams (deceased) and Kaitlyn Williams, and
sister Donna Kay Glassburn. Brother Edgar (Eddie) Thacker is predeceased.
Services to be held at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 3315 S Bryan Rd, Brandon,
FL 33511, on Saturday, October 22 at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead make a donation in Annette's name to St. Andrew's United
Methodist Church – Imagining More fund.
